Back by fopular demand! It’s Lisa Marie! Yeah, she’s been gone awhile but returns to our stage this Thursday with a really hot band and all your favorite musical chestnuts roasting on her open fire! She’ll be getting’ down with the likes of Mr. Bob Enik, on catarrh, Mr.Jim Gambino. on keys, and Mr. Jeff Casper, the friendly drummer. Truly on of my faves, and yours, too. I say bring it on! It’s still winter hours: 8 to 11. And this Saturday, at Captain Carlo’s, I’ll be playing with that local powerhouse John Keegan® and Madhouse. A rare public performance! Let’s celebrate the beginning of summer! Hopefully, the weather will co-operate and we’ll be set up outside on the deck where the smells of the harbor will mingle with all the B.O. and testosterone we can muster. Come dance the hight away! 9 to midnight.

Be careful: he can do it to your brain, too. Evan never fails to get the pot boiling quickly, so come early.
Also, on the skins will be our very own redcoat, Mr. David Mattacks, who needs no introduction, unless you’ve been in a coma.
Thank all of you for your pained inquiries into missing emails: I had some kind of gastro-informational problem which has since cleared up with the regular applications of Damnitol®, the speedy world wide cobweb fixer upper. Should all be good, now.
Still on winter hours 8 to 11. Thank you for your continuing support! We would be nothing without you! And watch out for that miserable summer cold/flu thing going around. I got it and couldn’t even drink for a couple of days!

This Thursday at the Rhumbline I’m proud to present the one and only Chris “Stovall” Brown. Born of Titans, raised by wolves and lowered by hydraulics, Mr. CB is up there on the top of the blues world, having toured with the likes of James Cotton or is Jerry Portnoy? Who can remember? He sings, he plays killer guitarrh, he’s a blast! I love working with him! Gush, gush gush. Now add the cracklings of that sartorially-challenged eggbeater, Mr. Steevee Chaggaris, and myself, and see what our special musically enhanced interrogation techniques can do for you!
And Saturday nite, I’ll be at Captain Carlo’s flailing away with the HooDoo Revelator Band, playing all your top forty or fifty favorite blues tunes at extremely high volume. I’m gonna wear earplugs, you should, too. But seriously, it’ll be fun to dance to.
Now Sunday,from 6 to 9, for something completely different, I’ll be at Glenn’s Cool Bar in Nbpt. with the marvelous vocallist Ms. Mari Martin. It’s Mother’s Day! Come celebrate. I get tired of repeating myself, but there’s a whole other world over that bridge, and you oughta czech it out. Garfish will be performing classic rock-n-roll music from the 1960′s & 70′s along with current hits. The band performs their own renditions of classic songs by Bon Jovi, Jethro Tull, Styx, The Doors, Moody Blues, Joe Cocker, Billy Joel, Dropkick Murphys and others which will surely get the crowd to its feet.

Just back from a series of successful shows at the North Shore Mall Third Annual Shoplifting Festival, he’s sure to put a smile on your face and a couple blisters on your feet! We’re gonna wiggle our way thru the entire jukebox of R&B without dropping a stitch of laughter. But, seriously, folks, if you haven’t seen Gordie yet due to a coma or something, you owe it to yourself to make the extra effort. This guy is an amazing Saxophonist\ singer and frontman. This will cure whatever ails you, and then some.
Backing him up will be a new guitarist , Mr. Mike DiBari, who i’ve worked with and enjoyed immensely. He knows all the chords. Cheer him on! Mr. Jeff Casper, the friendly drummer will be beatin’ the skins, and I’ll be on base.

Born in Hamilton, Ontario to parents of Nova Scotian descent, Garnet Rogers spent many hours listening to Grand Ol’ Opry radio broadcasts and harmonizing with his brother, the late folk legend Stan Rogers. Since then, Garnet has established himself as a formidable solo artist. The Boston Globe hailed him as as a “…charismatic performer and singer — one of the major talents of our time.” His music is literate, passionate, sensitive, and deeply purposeful. Chris Pahud’s latest CD “Red Sky in Morning” was produced and mastered by Seth Connelly, who will perform with Chris at this concert.

Join Single Tree Music, The Landing at 7 Central, some amazingly generous musicians, and the always-supportive local business community as we raise money to support the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.
While the drama of last week may be behind us, for many victims, there is a very long road to recovery ahead of them.
The Landing at 7 Central has agreed to provide the front Pub all day and also donate 20% of all sales from the pub that day. Additionally, we will have tons of great raffle items and 100% of the proceeds from the raffle will be donated to One Fund Boston.

DETAILS:
Redbone’s career first gained momentum in the early ’70s when Bob Dylan sought him out at the Mariposa Folk Festival. Most folks were introduced to the man during his network debut on Saturday Night Live in 1976, where he showcased his indelible version of “Walkin’ Stick.” In a year typified by amplified arena rock, Redbone’s intimate, low-key delivery proved to be a jolting antonym. Since then the opportunities for this unlikely figure to impose himself on pop culture have been plentiful. He appeared as a wise, animated snowman opposite Will Ferrell in the $173 million-grossing comedy “Elf”. His duet with star Zooey Deschanel on the seasonal standard “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” served as the picture’s theme song. Over the years, Redbone has also provided TV title tunes to Mr. Belvedere and Harry and the Hendersons, and had a memorable guest role as a quixotic, guitar-wielding guardian to the character Corky on ABC’s critically acclaimed series Life Goes On. New York choreographer Eliot Feld recently created the ballets Mr. XYZ (featuring Mikhail Baryshnikov) and Paper Tiger, which were woven around Redbone’s signature songs. If there is one common element to Redbone’s diverse music it’s his mastery of his acoustic guitar. It is easy to get lost in his stage exploits (which often gravitate between vaudeville and performance art) and overlook what a truly fine player he is — fingerpicking with a ragtime bounce or jumping between chords with the grace of a hurdler. (Maybe the analogy should be with the grace of a card shark, because he makes it look so effortless it can often be deceiving.) Since then he’s played numerous talk shows, functioning as a favorite guest of Johnny Carson.

Celebrating Gloucester’s Gabriel, Sylvester “Hooley” Ahola
In March, Gloucester will be celebrating the life and music of our own world famous trumpeter. The events will be held at the LanesvilleCommunity Center, located at 8 Vulcan St. and once the Ahola family’s dairy barn.

Saturday, March 23, from 8-11, dance and stomp to Hooley’s music played live by the 7 piece jazz and swing band The Seacoast Stompers. Beer and wine will be on sale. Tickets are $10 in advance and available at Gloucester Music and the Plum Cove Grind in Lanesville, or $12 at the door.

And, during the month of March, the Cape Ann Museum at 27 Pleasant St. will be celebrating Hooley with an exhibit from their archives.

The Large Hadron Collider is proud to present the mashup of the Gods this week as we attempt to create the Higgs Boson’s mate right here at the Rhumb Line. They said it couldn’t be done but they didn’t know we have slide swami Dave Brown being helped out by the commodious Steve Sadler and venerable Dave Mattacks. The sorties will accelerate around the track as the vibrating cesium atom ticks and tocks until critical mass is reached and unused brain cells splatter all over the place. Bring a dustpan! And rubber gloves!
But seriously, folks, this is going to be a very special night with dancing girls in grass skirts and plenty of umbrellas in the drinks, so, get there early and croon the night away. Oh, and remember : our special new hours are 8 to 11.
