10 days of films celebrating music on tap for September

HUNGARIAN RHAPSODY: QUEEN LIVE IN BUDAPEST ’86 (Thurs. Sept. 20 @ 7:30pm) ::: Freddie Mercury’s last tour with Queen is presented for the first time in HD, with a live set by the all-girl Queen tribute band, Gunpowder Gelatine[BUY TICKETS]
Check out the full line-up of “Fall Into The Rhythm.”
One event that we couldn’t quite fit in was a live performance by Omara “Bombino” Moctar, the Tuareg guitarist from Agadez, Niger. Bombino was featured in local filmmaker Ron Wyman’s documentary “Agadez: The Music And The Rebellion.” The show is after “Fall Into The Rhythm,” at 7:30pm on Monday, September 24th, and you can buy tickets here (this show will sell out). Ron will be on hand to answer questions and sign copies of his film. [BUY TICKETS]
Our full schedule through October 4 is on our website.
So that’s the short of it. We hope to see you soon!

Many thanks,

Chelsea Berry is recording a new album!!!

I’ve put together a plan, including a budget to cover recording, mixing, mastering, and pressing- for a total of $10,000.

If the goal of $10,000 isn’t met, your cards will not be charged and no prizes will be mailed out.

If we raise more than $10,000, the money will go towards promotion, touring, equipment, and all those other things that it takes get a new project off the ground.

The Bandit Kings make a record

Its no seccret how much I love the Bandit Kings. I try to make it to every show possible. This is one band that you can listen to over and over and never get tired of it. I am so excited about the new record they are making and look forward to owning my very own copy to add with the others. Maybe you could help make this happen too. Click the link below the photo  and be a part of it all.

“To err is human to forgive is divine”

It is unfortunate at times to misinform and I hope that if one finds an error in this posting please bring it to my attention so it can be fixed.

Please be sure to check out the links to all these fine musicians and venues on the side bar of this blog. >

The Rhumb Line~

I am wicked excited about the Monday night jam. If you happen to stop by you may get to hear the Bandit Kings, Inge Berge and who knows who may appear. During these jams you get some magical moments from musicians that are there to let loose with no planned agenda.

Thank you to Dan King for hosting this jam and to Fred Shrigley for making it possible.

Thursday – 9:00-12:00~ Dave Sag’s Blues Party

Dave says,

It’s time to check engine light and tighten down the thumbscrews as we welcome back that truly transformative king of the Blues: Mr. Ricky “King” Russell. Everytime this guy shows up, I have to go to a day spa for three days to recover and get my toes…well, never mind. Put an air raid horn on the jukebox, drink 12 cups of coffee, and you’ll know what this guy sounds like.

Worse, he’s bringing “Mr.Ed” Scheer with him. Haven’t seen him in awhile since his stint on Celebrity Rehab. I think his elbow is fine, too. Ed D. is the finest frontman, singer, and drummer I’ve ever heard, I swear to Gawd!
That’s it! 3 singers, 2 gunslingers and a cleanup man. You miss this, you will pay!

Mondays – 6:00 to 8:00 ~ Chantey Night, an open Monday night sing featuring members of Three Sheets to the Wind, Knockabout, and other music groups from the North Shore and the Boston area, has moved from the Cape Ann Brewing Company to the Dog Bar . The singing begins at 6:00 every Monday night. For all the schooner heads this is quite a thing to see. If you have someone coming into town and want to hear and see something very different it can be pretty cool.

Be warned though- don’t go planning a meeting or meet-up where you think you’re going to be able to carry on a conversation while they are singing. Best to plan it for a different night at the Dog Bar.
