North Shore Folklore Theatre Company Announces
4th Annual TRAGABIGZANDA Political Theatre Festival

Hosted by Short & Main in their upstairs space, 36 Main Street, Gloucester
3 week run: Fri-Sun, Oct 10-26
4 matinees: Oct 12 & 26 @ 2pm, Oct 18 & 19 @ 1pm

Labels, by Patrice Kelly – every year we include a piece written by or focused on youth issues. Ms. Kelly from Gloucester (now age 20, studying at Salem State) wrote this when she was 15 at GHS. It was first performed there. (shows all three weeks)

First Break, a collaborative project with NAMI Cape Ann (National Alliance on Mental Illnesswww.NAMICapeAnn.org) inspired by the new book First Break: Schizophrenia; Recovery is Possible by Gloucester local D.J. Munroe, based on experience with her son who suffered (and ultimately recovered) from schizophrenia, including a plummet off the A. Pyatt Andrew Bridge at age 19 during an episode. (shows all three weeks)

datafix, a solo dance/theatre work by Gloucester local Sarah Slifer Swift. A look at the enticing business of sharing, collecting, and using personal information online and beyond. (First weekend only)

Henry Allen’s Talanoa Mada: Stories to Tell, Reflections On My Journey To Fiji, will show that “all islands connect underwater” when it comes to disconnected youth who’s family trees have been severed at the roots and what can be done about it through theatre and folklore. (Second weekend only)

The Blessing of the Indiscreet [a work in progress] by Brett Coty See what happens when a disconsolate Priest, a depressed atheist politician, and a guilt-ridden Jewish psychiatrist all conspire to rig The Blessing of the Fleet ceremony, by stocking fish in George’s Bank, in the ritual’s aftermath. (Third weekend only)

Tickets, as always, are a suggested donation of $15 to $20. Online tickets at www.NorthShoreFolk.org No one will be turned away. Youth under 21 must be accompanied by with an adult.
