Posting for a friend

Hi friends,
Most everyone we know is in a music circle of some kind or another and this is sort of an A.P.B.  (all points bulletin) asking for your help to locate and recover a misappropriated guitar,  a blue Taylor T5 electric guitar.
Last spring, a friend of ours gave this guitar to someone currently living in Gloucester with the clear understanding that if he wasn’t using it, he would return it to her. He was also told that under no circumstances, was it to be sold. The individual in question is aware of her desire to have the guitar back and has told her that he sold it, against her wishes.
He is refusing to say who he sold it to or assist in any way to allow her to recover it even though she has offered to buy it back from whom ever has it.
The guitar is a blue Taylor acoustic/electric guitar and it belonged to an amazing vocalist and musician, that I’m sure you would have enjoyed knowing.
Danny Stepenuk, was the lead singer for the group “Hush”. He has since passed.  It was during his lengthly illness and passing, that this custom made, 6-string, blue Taylor guitar ended up in the hands of  the individual in question. There’s a photo of the instrument is at the end of this email.
Anything any of you can do to help determine the whereabouts of this guitar will be appreciated. Thank You so much to everyone for keeping an eye out.

Thursday9:00 to 12:00 ~ Dave Sags Blues Party

From Mr. Dave Sags,

I’m assuming and exhuming that we’re playing , so, here goes:  This thursday, the one and only “Blue” Jay Appt, plumbing magnate  and  Duke of Accutane. We’re toddling on the thin crust of the bottomless pit here: let’s hope that the knock on your door is not from the fuller brush man. Jay-Z is the man, having paid his dues with Mikey O’C. and Jack Webb Plumbing. He singhs, he plays gritarrh, grittily, and he’s just plane fungh to be around. Plus his parents are really something to be admired. Hopefully, they’ll be there, too, dancing and helping Jay tie his shoes.
Backing him up will be eine of my faves, Mr. Forrest “Frosty” Padgett, on concussion, skins, and heartbeet. No fool, he. Plays anything, anywhere, and always follows the basest, which means ME. Of course, Greg T. and his whammy bar and grill will be there as well as me, my, my. Ask your doctor if Blooz Party® is right for you. Your results may very….

From, Mr. Dave Sag himself,

Many people still enquiring about my hellth. thank you. But I haven’t got any. I’m still suffering from pulmonary symbolism and shortness of pants.  A  dear friend (but a nutcase) recommended I take large doses of that homeopathic standby: Guernica. And even though my girlfriend has been taking it for weeks, she still  hasn’t touched me. Alor!
On other fronts, we have fun for you this week, and dancing, too, as we take Mr. Brad Foucher out of his box and wind him up. You know Brad: that martini proven, hellzapoppin’  Squanto of song, glitarist, and vocalmaster deeluxe.  He’ll be the guy in the corner in the orange jumpsuit.
Behind him, pumping furiously will be Rockport’s answer to Tommy Lee: Mr. Greg Dann, on the skins. Of course, my factotum, Mr. Greg Tower will be there as well as myself. Come early and help us wheel in my iron lung.

Music Around Town ~ January 17 – 23, 2011

January 17, 2011 at 12:18 pm (Music)

Happy New Year!

This past year was fruitful for the music scene. There were many shows that were new for me and I have to say I am so grateful to all the excellent musicians out there bring their talent to the stage. New bands: The Inge Berge Band, Bingo Fridays, Magnolia, 100, The Bandit Kings.  Totally awesome and I could never tire from hearing them. Shows that I have never seen: The Celebrate Gloucester Concert held last summer, The Amero Family Christmas Special that was put on  at The Rhumb Line. Linda hit the floor and was singing to the guest one on one. This was such a jovial time full of fun and Christmas spirit. Fly shared a new Christmas song. I believe it is called “How I wish could fly” that he and Allen Estes wrote together. It was soft and emotional. J B ended his segment with Me and Mrs Jones, let me tell you this was a gift in itself. I was getting in my car and realized I did not thank Linda, immediately I ran back back in to do so. I believe if you loved them let them know it. You can’t get shows likes this anywhere else without paying a charge. No cover at the Rhumb Line and all around Gloucester. We certainly have it good on this Island!

Smokin Hot blues Bands out of town include T- Model Ford, Smoke Stack and The Foothill Fury ( one man band) Scott Biram (one man band), James Keys (one man band), Throw Down Blues Band, High Falutin, Watermelon Slim and The Workers, Erin Harpe and the Delta Swingers, Six Strings Down and last but not least The New Hoodoo Revelator. My favorite band The Ten Foot Pole Cats, blues like I like it

Thursday9:00 to 12:00 ~ Dave Sags Blues Party

From Mr. Dave Sags himself,

We’re skating on thin ice this week as we welcome back those Kaballeros of Kool: Edd Scheer and Mario Perrett. Ed, our diaphaneous drumbler, citizen, vogellizer and weekend father,  has just returned from his big gig delivering his own baby with his wife, the Seeress of Roebuck. He’s been missing from these parts for a long time and we’re quivering with anticipation at his incipient return.
He and Mario, our own cutie-pie saxist and hellion hottie, are recent recipients of the MacArthur Prize, and plan on spending their spondulicks studying Ebonics in Stoneham, Ma. What was I thinkin’? I shoulda got a kielbasa or somethin’ for my efforts…
Of course, Greg T. is on board, along with his hat and Speedy West licks, and mee too, on base, trying to slide in to home. If you miss this,  you may need therapy.

Music Around Town ~ January 10-16, 2011

January 10, 2011 at 12:47 am (Music)

Erin Harpe and The Delta Swingers  are going to the International Blues Challenge 2010 in Memphis.

Erin Harpe and The Delta Swingers won the blues challenge at Johnny D’s. They’re going to Memphis along with the duo act Cindy Daily and Satch Romano. I heard a new band there “ThrowDown” and man they were wild, wild enough to get me on the dance floor. Thank you Gracie for joining me. All the bands were great and I know it had to have been a wicked hard decision to make. Blues like I like it. Thank you all!

Congratulations to Erin Harpe and The Delta Swingers and Driving Blind for winning the first round.  It was an excellent night of music five bands playing all types of blues. Second round goes to Gracie Curran and the High Falutin Band  and The Throwdown Blues Band.  The Lois Greco Band will be in the last day of competitions as well. I am so looking forward to this.

Thursday9:00 to 12:00 ~ Dave Sags Blues Party with special guest Evan

From Mr. Dave Sags himself,

Hubba, Hubba,  girls, and those of the female persuasion: he’s back!  He’s escaped the event horizon, eaten ten hits of oxymoron, strapped on his titanium codpiece, and he’s comin’ after you! I’m talking ’bout that pulse racing, rubber-hose wielding divo of rhythm and bliss, Mr. Evan Goodreau. Last seen in these parts a while ago, it’s taken months to wipe the smile offa evrybody’s face. Now, put it back on, cuz he’s comin’ to town and he wants YOU, the viewer to  split your lip in  heavenly ecstacizm and zizz to the loopy beet. Ask your doctor if HonkyJive® is right for you.
Meanwhile, Mr. Gym Gwin, Fred’s brother, will be playin’ the eggbeaters and stirrin’ soup behind him, tryin’ to figger out a way to take K. L. out, or at least expose him as a swish. We know it’s true. THIS IS A DANGEROUS BAND.
Of course Greg T. with his hat, and myself , on base, will attempt the impossible. Do czech it out.
Many busy executives ask me how I can go on and do this “creative” writing every week. I can’t really eggsplain it, but here’ what to do: Make yourself an Ice-cold martini (or three), sit down, and let ‘er rip! Usually works for most authors, so, give it a try. Nothin’ like black and white! Stay tuned!

Happy New Year Music Fans,

GARFISH will be performing at the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner Dance at Cruiseport this Saturday from 6:30pm to 10:30pm. This is a public invited event where reservations are required. Cruiseport is located at 6 Rowe Square, Gloucester. For tickets and additional information please contact The Cape Ann Chamber Of Commerce at 978-283-1601 or info@capeannchamber.com.

This is a great event to get all dressed up and head out on the town. Always a popular venue for the business leaders and politicians to get together, socialize, have a few drinks, a great diner, a few more drinks then kick up their heels and have some fun.

Garfish will be performing dinner music along with classic rock-n-roll from the 1960’s & 70’s  and 80’s along with some current hits that will surely get the crowd to its feet. This is the first show of the New Year for Garfish since their sold out performance at the Gloucester Elks Lodge in November. Tickets are limited so please make your reservations early.

The band consists of Kevin Lopes on lead vocals, along with fellow musicians: Walter Piscitello on drums, Doug Comeau on guitar, Gary “Gar” Hiltz on bass and Jeff Worthley on piano & saxophone.

Garfish has played regularly at many area venues, including the American Cancer Society and Senator Bruce Tarr fundraisers along with other local benefits.  The band performs their own renditions of classic songs by Elton John, Jethro Tull, The Beatles, Gordon Lightfoot, Styx, Lionel Richie, Dropkick Murphys, Moody Blues, Joe Cocker, Billy Joel and others.

Best Wishes to you all for the New Year…..Gar

From Mr Dave Sags himself,

Our unsub this week is the one and only Steve Sadler, string genius, gargler, and poster boy for Men’s Health Magazine.  The Star of the East has risen and muhgals from many distant lands ( like Peabody) will be bringing in their caravans and refrigerator boxes in celebration of the blessed event. Steve has just finished up  a brand new CD of his own tunes, in which he’s taught a thing or two to Brian Wilson. Smooth and creamy vocals, like a frappe. Groovey tunes with real chord changes, too. Get yerself a copy. Great cruisin’ music!
Stirring the pot will be Mr. Jeff Casper, the friendly drummer, who’s been on hiatus ever since he had to bite off his own leg , to escape that bear trap. Ankles Aweigh, Jeff! Of course, Greg T. will be there as well as myselph, on base. Now, if I could only shake that cold….
