Thursday – 9:00 to 12:00 ~ Dave Sag’s Blues Party

Dave says,

This week we celebrate the Festival of Saint Pancreas, patron saint of diabetes, with the triumphant return of Mr. Bobby Davis, Johnny Carwash hisself, to our stage. Just back from a successful tour of the Isles of Langerhans, He’s all revved up and ready to jackhammer the fillings out of your teeth with his inimitable style. Tone, touch and taste: this guy does it all.He puts the “mental”  in “instrumental”. From screeching surf rock to Ventures capitalism, he’s sure to put a grimace on your face and a tear in your eye.
Cringing behind him,  stirring that roue will be that cleanser of rhythm, Mr. Jeff Casper, the friendly drummbler, plumbing magnate and biker of note. Of course Mr. Greg T. and myself will be there to finish it off. So, don’t get hung up in your closet: Wear yourself out!

Chantey Night, an open Tuesday night sing featuring members of Three Sheets to the Wind, Knockabout, and other music groups from the North Shore and the Boston area, has moved from the now-closed Cameron’s to the Cape Ann Brewing Company.   The singing begins at 8:30 every Tuesday night. For all the schooner heads this is quite a thing to see.  If you have someone coming into town and want to hear and see something very different it can be pretty cool.

Be warned though- don’t go planning a meeting or meet-up where you think you’re going to be able to carry on a conversation while they are singing.  Best to plan it for a different night at Cape Ann Brewing.

Hola

What’s the Good Word?
The BKs have been toiling hard at Bang-A-Song Studios this summer, working with good friend and co-captain of the kool kids, Tony Goddess. From what can be heard through the carpeted walls, they are amassing quite a collection of amazing mixes. The band gets major points for the songs but credit the good noise to friend and guest producer, Mr. Dave Mattacks. They’ve also had visits from Russ Lawton (who can be heard most of the year with a little music group you may be familiar with, the Trey Anastasio Band) and Nelson Bragg (on a short break between world travels with the Brian Wilson band). The Bandit Kings look forward to sharing the fruits of this labor soon, and are so happy to have such great inspiration from these fantastic musicians and all of you (awwww).

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Coming up!
THURSDAY, September 15: The BKs move on down the line again to play the 2011 NE England Pop Festival at the Rosebud Bar in Somerville! The Pop Fest is a magical musical festival celebrating and showcasing the pop music of New England musicians on Sept 15-17. There are a ton of great bands playing, including Eddie Japan and Preacher Roe, but since this is our mailing list we are crossing our toes you’ll make a special effort to catch our hour-long set of hot originals at 10pm on Thursday 9/15
• Doors are at 7pm/BKs at 10pm/$10/21+/sorry to your tiny music lovin’ babies
• 381 Summer St. Davis Square, Somerville, MA

SATURDAY, September 17: The BKs play the Dogbar during the last Gloucester Block Party of the whole summer with their very favorite heavily bearded friend, Marc Wolfson Pinansky (of Township). Because we KNOW it’s gonna be great weather, the Dogbar will close off the parking lot and set up a mean outdoor club that makes for some pretty amazing sangin and dancin under the stars…More about Marc here
• 8pm/free/21+
• 65 Main St. Gloucester, MA

FRIDAY, September 23: Our last September gig will be at the Rhumbline with THREE special guests, who comprise the Dan Baker TRIO. The DBT will start the night off right and we’ll take it from there with more of your favorite BK tunes. See what Dan Baker is all about here
• 9pm/$5/21+
• 40 Railroad Ave. Gloucester, MA

The Bandit Kings are:
Renee Dupuis on lead vocals and keys, Ann Marie, also on lead vocals, Dennis Monagle on drums, Joe Cardoza on bass, and Dan King on lead guitar. The Bandit Kings’ play original tunes written by the band members and hot b-sides by classic artists for longer shows. They have found bare-bones musical chemistry, including the rich meld of vocalists Ann Marie and Dupuis, who “both have voices that bring us back to the dawn of country rock, whisky soaked and raspy in just the right places while never crossing into the overpowering. The song is a rare treat that could have been tossed aside as a boring anachronism in less capable hands.” -Boston Band Crush

Thursday – 9:00 to 12:00 ~ Dave Sag’s Blues Party

Dave Says,

We’re gonna tilt the event horizon our way  as we re-present one of our faves, Ms. Lisa Marie, to our stage this week, in order to induce shortness of pants amongst our loyal fans. Crooner, belter, and filia mystica, take your pick: she’ll wrestle your eardrums to the floor and make you scream “Uncle!”
Turning the screws up a notch will be that Irish idol, Mr. Benny Benson, on mortar and pestle, and that rolling chassis chord mechanic, Mr. John Hyde, on accordion. Due to my swollen rubato, I’ll be staying home, but I will be ably covered by Mr. Johnny P., who’s absolutely thrilled to have any gig on a Thursday nite! Of course, Mr. Greg T. will be there, frantically trying to save enough money to buy a new hat. A marvelous night for all!

Cape Ann Brewing ~ http://www.capeannbrewing.com/
