Welcome to NEW YEAR’S ROCKPORT EVE: the web site that is dedicated to celebration. We celebrate the future, the joy of sharing a special evening with family, friends and neighbors and our hope that a New Year will bring good health, happiness and new opportunities.

We will entertain you with clowns, cowboys, magicians, musicians – classical, pop, jazz, Dixieland, folk, country, gospel swing and rock and roll – ventriloquists, dance, drama, puppets, and MUCH, MUCH MORE! And, we have planned a spectacular midnight event that will be a truly memorable welcome to the beginning of a new millennium.

Our buttons ($15 adults, $6 children 12 & under, 3 & under, free–no button needed) are now available.

Buttons can be purchased at the following locations:

In Rockport: John Tarr Store, Main St. Smith hardware & Lumber at the Lumber Desk, 3 Station Square Toad Hall Bookstore, Main St.

In Gloucester: Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce, Commercial St. House of Raven, Main St. Gloucester Music, Main St.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION: Can I buy buttons on the 31st?

Buttons also sold on December 31st at Spiran Hall (our headquarters) on the corner of Broadway & School Street from noon ’til 11pm.

Many of our inns, B&B’s, and motels will be open and we suggest you make your reservations early. Click on the Food/Lodging link for a list of Rockport Inns with links to many of their web sites courtesy of rockportusa.com.

As a non-profit organization, we are continually engaged in fundraising. Besides tax-free donations (which we would welcome – make checks payable to NYRE, Inc.), we are offering items for sale. Please click on the Store button on the site navigation to order NYRE souvenirs.

Donations to help NYRE may be made at any time.

Countdown to NYRE 2011!

Dave Says,

We’re gonna  close out this notable year of 2011 by bringing you the world’s biggest…. the one and only Mr. John Keegan®. The greatest wowman in theworld! This guy practically invented the hangover! Gootarist, and vocal gunslinger, he’s sure to put a smile on your face as he pokes your eye out with a mikestand! Fencing masks recommended. But, seriously, folks, we’re trying to beat your liver into compliance in preparation of New Year’s Eve. Come dance to all the magic he can bring to your heart! And all you married guys: bring your wives for a change!   And he’s bringin’ all his ants with him. Crawling up your leg will be an old buddy of mine, Mr. Paul Foss, gleeboard maven and author of the bestseller: “Chicken Soup for The Criminally Insane”. Crawling out of other places will be our Irish Ace Of Pace: Mr. “Molto” Benny Benson. Of course, Greg. T. and myself connect the dots. Rumor has it that millions of saxaphone poofters are showing up, just on accounta…we shall see. And doesn’t it suck that Lat 43 scuttled the Earley Show on Thursday evenings? Get mad! Write your congressman! Give up sushi!

For all the schooner heads this is quite a thing to see.  If you have someone coming into town and want to hear and see something very different it can be pretty cool.

Be warned though- don’t go planning a meeting or meet-up where you think you’re going to be able to carry on a conversation while they are singing. Best to plan it for a different night at Cape Ann Brewing.

Dave Says,

Just in time for xmas, ladies and germs, May I present to you Ms. Cheryl Arena? One of our most requested singers and harpslingers, and a big time traveller, too, just having returned from Austin, TX., where she purrformed at the I. G. Farben Phocomelus Convention to a nearly standing ovation . Knocked ’em right over! Cheryl makes it up here to yankee-land 2 or 3x a year and we’re glad to have her. Great energy!   Pushing her along will be that organ octopus, Mr. John Cameron, who needed minor surgery after backing up Lisa Marie last week. And that friendly drummer, Mr. Jeff Casper will be on the diving board all nite long. Of, course Greg T. and myself will be there, too, hastily lumping the sandbags into place. A big dancing nite!

Cape Ann Brewing ~ http://www.capeannbrewing.com/

Chantey Night, an open Tuesday night sing featuring members of Three Sheets to the Wind, Knockabout, and other music groups from the North Shore and the Boston area, has moved from the now-closed Cameron’s to the Cape Ann Brewing Company.   The singing begins at 8:30 every Tuesday night.
