Benefit for ALS at The Gloucester Elk’s Club Featuring Full Circle

Please join us as Full Circle kicks out the jams for this very, very worthwhile cause. Anyone who knows anything at all about this dreaded disease, knows what I’m talking about. This is a great opportunity to come out on a Saturday night, dance the evening away to some of the best classic rock you will hear anywhere on the North Shore by none other than Full Circle and help people in need while they have to deal with the effects of this deadly disease. We promise you, this will be a time to remember! We will have special guest drummer Rick Geraghty of “Scarlett” & “The Cape Ann Symphony” fame performing with us while Peter Malaquias is on another assignment. Please join us!

Even better, we got our  general egg-beater Mr. Steevie Chaggaris to pound the skins. It’s gonna be a blast as we drill down deep into the bedrock and dig out the gems. Celebrating Gloucester’s Gabriel, Sylvester “Hooley” Ahola
In March, Gloucester will be celebrating the life and music of our own world famous trumpeter.  The events will be held at the LanesvilleCommunity Center, located at 8 Vulcan St. and once the Ahola family’s dairy barn.

• Saturday, March 23, from 8-11,  dance and stomp to Hooley’s  music played live by the 7 piece jazz and swing band The Seacoast Stompers. Beer and wine will be on sale.  Tickets are $10 in advance and available at Gloucester Music and the Plum Cove Grind in Lanesville,  or $12 at the door.

• And, during the month of March, the Cape Ann Museum at 27 Pleasant St. will be celebrating Hooley with an exhibit from their archives.

The Hive is hosting an Open Mic for Friday March 10th! This All Ages event will feature YOU and whatever YOU wanna do! 
We’re also gonna feature a local fella Brendan Grafe and maybe afew others!!!Tell some jokes! Play some music! Read some poetry! Do WHATEVER!!! It’s your time to shine! It’s our first time doing this thing, so we’ll see how it goes as far as signup and stuff like that. But we’re thinking it’ll go from like 6-10pm! So come on down! only $5!

Have you noticed that it  stays light out until almost 6 ? Spring is bustin’ out all over! Like a disease! 
But seriously, folks, lets’ stop worrying about our muffin tops and do something about it: dance!!
Therefore, allow me to introduce Mr. John Keegan™, erstwhile leader of “Madhouse”, blues cheerleader,stage manager, and all around general mucky muck. He’s gonna grab your earlobes and twist them into submission, make you scream and cry. You’ll lose 10 lbs. in 3 hours or double Fred’s money back!

The band’s hot, too: We have John Hyde, Chick magnet II and jazz snob, on his organ again, Dave Brown, multi-grained gootarist and silicone slide master  lording over his spaghetti pile of guitar cables and our Irish Ace of Pace, Mr. Benny Benson wailing’ on those skins. and me, too, on base. It’s the dance party of the season!

  Don’t forget our new hours: 8 to 11. This gives you time to recover for the next day!
  Also,  the Good Old Salty Jazz Band will be wailing at the rose Baker Senior Center next monday from 1 to 3. It’s free!

  Come listen to his wonderful music, and stories by people who knew and played with him, and enjoy photos, displays and some of his home movies from the 30′s.  The event is free and open to the public, donations welcomed.  Join us for coffee and nisu.
