Louise Mosrie’s songs create a world of lush detail and wide-open emotion drawing on the sensual imagery of the Deep South. Louise combines Americana, bluegrass and folk melodies and stories in ways that are fresh and charming with a warm vocal delivery and tasteful musical arrangements. Louise’ songs are filled with deep feeling and uncommon descriptions. The title track of her newest album “Home” paints sweet moving pictures of home. “Battle of Blair Mountain” describes the painful history of West Virginia coal miners. There is the quiet redemption of “Sweet Relief”, and “Leave Your Gun”, a moving story from the Civil War.
Louise’s British parents emigrated to the U.S. in the 1960’s for work, finally settling on a farm of fifty acres in middle Tennessee. Born in Delaware and moving to the South as a child, Louise had trouble reconciling the two cultures around her – shunning all things Southern – disliking the accent, the food, and the slow sleepy ways of doing things in her small rural town. Louise began writing pop/folk songs in her early 20’s while living in Knoxville after college, producing two independent albums before moving to Nashville in 2004 to work on her song-craft. There, she made friends and contacts in the Americana and bluegrass side of Nashville, playing rounds and writing with artists like Donna Ulisse and Rick Stanley, Diana Jones and producer Ray Kennedy. Ironically, the melodies and imagery that emerged most strongly in her writing after 2004 came straight from the southern culture she once dismissed. Influenced by artists such as Nanci Griffith, Allison Kraus and Lucinda Williams, her songs tell stories of joy, love, struggle and heartbreak through the vivid characters and scenery of southern life.

“Great new songs, some touching, some just plain fun. These Paramours get better with every new release. PS. ‘Chains’ is brilliant!”
—Gene Shay, WXPN Philadelphia
The music of The Twangtown Paramours has been called ‘Sophisticated Americana’, and is a hybrid of the Nashville and Austin music scenes. The Twangtown Paramours’ debut, self-titled album was #11 on the Folk DJ chart in August, 2010. It remained in the top 40 of the Cashbox Country Roots chart for the entire summer of 2010, and was in the top 100 folk albums for 2010. Their songs were and can still be heard on over 70 Americana, Folk, and independent Country radio stations world-wide.
Lead vocalist MaryBeth Zamer has sung professionally since the age of 18. Before moving to Nashville, she was a fixture of the local music scene in the Washington, D.C. area, where she fronted a popular bar band for several years. MaryBeth toured Europe, worked as a guest artist with several other bands, and sang background vocals for the band Method Actor featuring Eva Cassidy. After relocating to Nashville, MaryBeth continued her musical career working as a demo singer for local songwriters, as a background vocalist for several new country artists, and working on her own projects, including serving as lead vocalist for the band Blue Martini.
Guitarist and backup vocalist Mike T. Lewis has played guitar for a million and a half years, and bass for about half that long. He sometimes tours with Jimmie Dale Gilmore, playing upright bass. In 1997, Mike had a #1 pop hit in South Korea on Yang Pa’s first album called “A Heartbeat Away”. It sold over 800,000 units. The tune was #1 for five weeks and stayed on the charts for six months. In addition to the hit in Korea, Mike has had songs recorded by independent artists in the U.K., Japan, and the U.S. Since 2000, Mike has owned and operated a studio, producing tunes for up and coming performers as well as people who should spend their money more wisely.

Thursday 8:30-11:30pm Dave Sag’s Blues Party with ~ Dennis Brennan, Matt Stubbs and Dave Mattacks
Our unsub this week is none other than the fabulous Dennis Brennan, noted vocal meister, and master of the GeeWhiz clef. He’s got to be the most interesting and talented singer around these parts. Plus, he’s a walking musical encyclopedia of all styles and tunes. He’ll clean your ears out! And the chicks dig him! So do I!
He’ll be backed up by the fabulous Matt Stubbs on glitar. No slouch, he. Makes things come alive. And then there’s Dave Mattacks, on drums. The Atomic Clock needs no introduction, unless you’ve been in a coma for many years. I might slip into one just trying to keep up.. I feel really honored to play with these guys. Pretty lucky, too. Don’t miss it. Remember we start at 8:30 now.
