Connor Garvey and Putnam Smith
Public · Hosted by Old Sloop
Friday at 7:30 PM – 10 PM
courtesy photo
Connor Garvey has the amiable presence of an entertainer, the lyrical depth of a poet, and the enchantment of a storyteller. First time listeners often are drawn to Garvey’s engaging performance style, accomplished musicianship, and memorable melodies. But his lyrics project a depth and sincerity that allow the observant listener to find meaning beyond the catchy hook.
Putnam Smith could be an old-world troubadour fresh from the 19th Century. After all, he lives in a log cabin, plays his Grandfather’s banjo, and prints up the jackets to his CDs on an antique letterpress. Yet this rootsy multi-instrumentalist songwriter (he also writes and performs on guitar, mandolin, fretless banjo, and piano), steeped as he is in Appalachian traditions, is very much a storyteller for the modern age.

PETER SOUZA, 3 SHEETS TO THE WIND
Concert to benefit The Schooner Adventure
Friday
6 PM – 8:30 pm
JULY 22, 2016 6:00PM THREE SHEETS TO THE WIND is an old sailing term and refers to a ship whose sheets (lines) have come loose, causing the sails to flap uncontrolled and the ship to shudder and roll (like a staggering drunk) and meander at the mercy of the elements.
Three Sheets to the Wind is also a Gloucester chantey/sea music group. Many of the crew have years of established song and sea history to offer and create a perfect storm of song and good cheer. Their vocals, harmonies and instrument skills are phenomenal, and they have a great time performing and drawing the audience into the fun.

First and foremost, we want to say thank you to each and every person who has stepped foot in Alchemy over the past 12 years. It’s been an awesome, crazy run and you helped make it all possible.
We’re closing on Saturday. For real this time
The way people dine is evolving, and while we have lots of wonderful, loyal guests, Alchemy just isn’t a place most people can eat at multiple times a week, and that’s not our goal.
We want a space where families can dine out regularly with great food, drinks and a fun, casual vibe. So, we’re going to make that. We don’t know exactly how it will look or what the food will be, but we’re going to figure it out; and when we do, we’ll let you know.

Thursday ~ Dave Sag’s Blues Party ~
It’s a special week for me as I capture some of my favorite high-value targets and toss ’em on the stage for a big whoop-di-do. Seeing as how one of my favorite songwriters and performers passed on a few months ago, I thought It’d be a good idea to honor him with a tribute. I’m talkin’ about Mr. Allen Toussaint.
http://allentoussaint.com/
You may not have heard the name, but this guy was one of the most important tunesmiths of the 60’s and 70’s. He wrote over 1000 songs, some of which are classics.. We’re gonna do like 30 of them, if we can, with no rehearsal, no backsies and no money down. To help me out I’ve engaged my most favorite lovers of his music. Phew!
Let’s start with Edd Scheer, everybody’s favorite frontman, drummer and vocalist. Add Mr. Jon Ross, on guitar and vocals, and Mr. John Cameron , on keys, and me, suffering with a swollen enigma, coughing my brains out, and writing out words to 30 songs and what do you get? Hopefully a stellar night of Allen’s top notch music!
Somebody help me!
