Thursday – 8:30 to 12:00 ~ Dave Sags Blues Party

From Mr Dave Sags,

This thursday at the Rummie: On your knees, worm! We gwine make you behave with the likes of  Sister Lisa Marie and her broken knuckles. You’ll be genuflecting to the beat of the Archangels all nite long. She’ll be swingin’ that collection basket your way, so be good and help out. We’re offering plenery indulgences this time around, on a sliding scale of venal to mortal. Be bad and yer knuckles get thwacked!
Cringing in  her presence will be that altar boy of the drummbs, Mr. Forrest Padgett, and that gooey guitarist, Mr. Greg T. With a special appearance by that legendary  Jamb master, Mr. Bill Cunniff, who’s just been released on his own recognizance by the Rockport cops, after being busted downtown for not wearing a Greek fishing hat. What an ordeal!
And on Friday, it’s the triumphant return of the Geezerz at a new venue: the Studio on Rockly Neck. Apparently, the old lady got the hots for us. That’s Dave Brown, systolic slidemaster, Dave Mattacks, on skins, Greg T., on his hat, and myself, on base. Let’s see what happens. hours: 9 to 12:30.
But,wait! there’s more!! Next Monday nite, from 7 to 10  Cap’t. Karloff’s on the Harbor Loop is proud to present The GOOD OLD SALTY JAZZ BAND. This is required listening.  These are the cats who play at the Senior Center, who tolerate myself on bass. Mark Earley is the youngest guy at age 65. We rock! Mostly back and forth…See ya then!

Friday – 9:00 to 12:30 ~ Bingo Fridays

Bingo Fridays are at The Rhumb Line tonight. Plus they are opening up for James Montgomery at Woodmans before that. Young talent and I do mean young. They have their own songs and do some wild Hendrix covers as well.

Topside Grille –  Upcoming Events  ~ http://www.topsidegrill.com/index.php?link=events

Thursday ~ 8:00- close  ~ Cool Change:
Cool Change is a music project that consists of a number of great musicians from the North Shore area. The nice thing about it is, it can change from an acoustic duo, to a two guitar trio, to a one guitar/percussion trio to a full band and fits into whatever venue. The kind of music, being blues, classic rock, R&B, and a small dose of pop  stays the same but the library of songs just keeps growing. One of our goals is to have people listening to songs and thinking “I love this song, no one ever plays this!! ” and it’s working. More often than not, people will come up after the gig and say just that, that our song selections are like old friends they haven’t heard from in a while. Check out more at

Friday, 8:30- close ~ Friday May 21st  ~ Bandit Kings:
The Bandit Kings are a Boston area band with two heart-stopping lead singers, Ann Marie (SAFETY) and Renee Dupuis. Featuring a rough and tumble rhythm section made up of Dan King (KBMG, SAFETY), Dennis Monagle (Qwill, SAFETY), and Joe Cardoza. The Bandits cover some hot b-sides but play mostly original work. Sounds like the rocking rasp of Chrissie Hynde and the early bell toll of Stevie Nicks the morning after…with out of this world drums, hot bass lines and a real live guitar hero.  The Bandits are an acoustic duo featuring singer Ann Marie and Dan King doing unplugged versions of the Bandit Kings set plus other Dan King originals and popular covers from their tasteful influences.

Thursday – 8:30 to 12:00 ~ Dave Sags Blues Party

I only wish I had gotten this message sooner.

From Mr. Dave Sags himself,

Something new this time around: let’s all be surprised and welcome Ms. Cheryl Arena to our stage( http://www.myspace.com/cherylarena ) .  According to Ed Scheer, our diaphaneous drummbler and gargling vogalist, she’s the bee’s knees, the cat’s meow. She sings; she dances; she does it all. She’s visiting the area (or arena), so let’s give her a warm welcome.
Backing up this agglomeration will be John Hyde, loving husband and jazz snob, on keys, Edd Schmeer, on drums and vocals, and,of course, Greg T. on catarrh. I’ll be there, too.
By the way, any of you cats or kittens who got nothin’ to do: do this: do go to the  Rose Darling Senior Center on Maim st. in Glou. next to Drunken Donuts this Monday afternoon . From 1 to 3 pm there’s free music by the Old Smelly, I mean Salty Jazz Band. These cats rock, mostly back and forth, including myself. It’s a blast!

Kingsley Flood So as you may know, the Boston Phoenix done did it: they nominated a band standing in a dumpster for Best Roots act. As Prince Hakeem said in Coming to America, “when you think of garbage, think of Hakeem!” Well, we say “when you think of dumpsters, vote for us!” You can do it once a day until May 7. Dumpsters nationwide thank you.

Funbucket returns to Cameron`s, where we first bamboozled, I mean, “persuaded, the management into letting us “perform”, as it were. Well, finally, all is forgiven, so we`ll be back this Saturday night. Mr. Bogus said he`ll try to restrain himself from doing too much “relic-ing” on his guitars this time. Three of `em aged 10 years in one night this past Tuesday…Ah, but that`s a story for another time, Boys and Girls. Come on out to Cameron`s and maybe see something like what`s in the picture…whatever the hell THAT is!
