G.I.R.L. Hey Girl, … We Back
Public
After a year and a half of ‘G.I.R.L. Interrupted’, we are BACK and bringing you the unapologetic queer dance party that Gloucester needs and has been waiting for. Returning upstairs at Short & Main we are giving you non stop wet electropop, retro faves, indie dance jams and may even take some requests if you behave like a good G.I.R.L.
Expect a few live drag performances or some other kinda queer trash to drench your mental tampons. That’s right everyone, this party is Gloucester’s premiere LGBTQ 🏳️🌈 party but ALL are welcome. Even the straights. Whatever that means 😏
Doors at 9pm / 18+
$5 Cover / $10 Under 21
**Limited Presale tix available at
Paul’s Closet/Post Historic Studio

BEANTOWN SWING ORCHESTRA
Presented by Education & Outreach program
The 18-piece Beantown Swing Orchestra specializes in performing big band music from the Swing Era, one of the most popular and sophisticated forms of American music ever created. With most of its musicians in their teens and early twenties, the orchestra is a true representation of the young and energetic big bands of the 1930s. In helping to further its mission of perpetuating this great music and exposing it to younger generations, the orchestra offers music workshops and presentations to various local high schools, including Rockport, where it trains and recruits new players regularly. Featured in this concert will be vocalist Rhiannon Hurst and guitarist Perry Wilson, both current Rockport High School students.

Piandia at Floating Lotus
7:30 PM – 9 PM
Floating Lotus is delighted to announce a rare opportunity to experience a “magical musical tour” (Rutland Herald) with traditional Indian music fused with contemporary jazz by two highly acclaimed musicians performing together as Piandia on Sunday, January 12 at 7:30pm. $10 cover
Boston based Berklee College professors and old friends John Funkhouser on piano and Jerry Leake on tabla team up to perform ragas from North India and familiar cover music with an Indian spin. Deeply soulful and uplifting ragas are woven together with energetic and intricate rhythms and virtuosic improvisation. As Funkhouser explains, “Musically we start with a seed and attempt to grow a tree. We take our time and let the music gradually evolve and build, riding the wave from a peaceful meditation to a vibrant rhythmic crest merging back into the sea.”
